I received the following from a fellow grieving dad and friend that I met through this project. I will be posting a separate section of the poem Just for Today to ponder every couple of days. The poem was written for bereaved parents by Vicki Tushingham. Feel free to share with others.
Just For Today For Bereaved Parents (Section 2)
Just for today I will remember my child’s life, not just their death,
and bask in the comfort of all those treasured days
and moments we shared.
After two years the comfort in the loss of my son is him, his life that we shared. We return to ourselves as we refresh that which we once treasured again. The love I still carry makes me strong.
Allan,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a posting. Your statement “The love I still carry makes me strong” is a statement I feel. The love I carry for my two children gives me the strength and courage to reach out to other grieving dads when and where I can. I am glad you found this project.
Peace.
